Mark is an accomplished teacher of guitar, piano, bass, banjo, mandolin, and ukulele, working with students from beginner to advanced across all genres including classical, jazz, rock, and bluegrass. He also teaches songwriting, arranging, and music production.
As a recording and touring artist, Mark has built an extensive catalog of original instrumental music, released across dozens of albums with over 5 million streams in more than 175 countries on Spotify, Apple Music, and other platforms. Beyond his own releases, including his work as one half of the duo Grundhoefer & Brimer, he stays busy as a session musician and plays 100+ live shows a year, keeping him constantly connected to audiences and other working musicians.
With years of experience teaching students of all ages, including many adults and semi-professional musicians. Mark tailors every lesson to the individual, and teaches students around the world through virtual lessons. He believes each student is unique, and the approach to learning should be too. Mark loves nothing more than watching his students grow, and he especially encourages them to get out and perform by starting bands, booking gigs, and building a real presence beyond the practice room. He founded the Rock Band Camp at Metro Music Makers and leads weekly rock band lessons for students around Atlanta, giving students a direct path from the lesson room to the stage.
Outside the studio, Mark’s an avid reader, a dedicated dog owner, and he and his family are devoted stewards of the wildlife around their Atlanta home where a pond adjacent yard has become the unofficial sanctuary for the chipmunks, squirrels, ducks, geese, and myriad of other creatures they’ve come to know over the years.
