Annie is an experienced pianist, vocalist and music instructor who teaches piano and voice across all levels. Her goal is to teach her students to be “tuneful, ‘beat-ful’ and artful musicians. ‘This means that we work to train the ear (not just the eye), develop healthy technique and, most importantly, nurture the joy of music making,” Annie explains.

As someone who found her voice through music, it gives Annie joy to help her students find their voices as well. Her most memorable teaching experiences are when students create their first compositions. Annie supports her students by attending their performances and competitions. Having struggled with performance anxiety in her past, Annie understands the growth that can come from performing and overcoming that fear, and the unexpected joy that can come from sharing your talent. “I am so proud of my students when they perform and encourage them to do it as much as possible!” she says.

Annie’s career choice came about in an interesting way. “Video game soundtracks are the reason I am a pianist and a music teacher,” Annie shares. “And my mom originally thought nothing good could come from my childhood hobby!” Now Annie spends her free time in other ways, including swing dancing, crafting, puzzles and hiking.
